The Aircraft Wiring Support Equipment Commodity group at Lakehurst NJ. This facility provides material and training to the Fleet for Aircraft Wire and Harness Repair. The MCH-100-A was built to the specifications required for a Portable, Battery powered Heat Gun. This is the tool currently in service with the military today. The Malcom Company is manufacturing the tool.

Fort Monmouth is the home of CECOM. Combat Power for Leaders. The United States Army has been using BB-390 batteries in fielded equipment for several years. They have a wealth of experience in shop and field with rechargeable batteries, their operation, maintenance procedures and life expectancy. This is a very good source of information about the rechargeable battery program in the Armed services. The MCH-100-A uses the BB-390 battery as the power source for the Heat Gun and the Soldering Iron.
